It’s the season to be festive – and for more than one reason! Before the holiday season starts and New Years comes speeding around the corner, we’re got another festive occasion to think about. December 15th is International Tea Day. It celebrates not just this most powerful potent and humble of brews but also the entire universe of people and plantations behind your cup of delightful beverage.
International Tea Day is about being mindful of the deliciousness in your cup – and how it came to be there. The journey your tea followed, possibly over thousands of miles. How many workers carefully picked the tea leaves that you’ve just brewed, and the name of the plantation they came from. This, and a million other questions that underscore the sheer variety and complexity of tea perfection.
National Stress Awareness Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday in November. It’s a very important occasion because stress is a silent killer with long-term adverse health impacts.
At the first signs of stress, your body enters fight or flight mode. It’s flooded with hormones, with your pulse racing and your heart beating. Chronic stress impacts health adversely. If not managed, continuous stress leads to long-term health concerns including high blood pressure, raised blood sugar, insomnia and a weakened immune system.
That’s why Synergy is celebrating a more aware, mindful and de-stressed you. On the 24th of November, our resident expert Dr Ammarayya is presenting a free workshop from 5-6 pm on how to handle stress. You’ll walk away with tips and tricks to bring stress under control by adjusting your response patterns.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – from the 1st to the 31st. It’s an annual campaign that saves countless lives by increasing awareness of the disease, and encouraging women to take steps towards early detection. The world’s biggest charities gather round to raise funds to power research into breast cancer’s causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is also a time when extra support, guidance, love and care are offered to sufferers of the disease.
September is Physical Therapy Month in several countries around the world. Physical Therapy Day also falls within the month as a celebration where the contributions of therapists and rehabilitation experts to general well-being are given centre stage.

Every morning, on waking, you turn to ritual that’s been part of human civilisation for at least 4,500 years. That’s right; we’re talking about the humble cup of tea.
What is stress? Is it a mental construct or a physical ailment? The answer: both. It’s a life truth and can be defined as the sum of our biological and psychological reactions to outside stimuli. While a certain amount of stress can assist the body in gearing up to deal with the day, too much of it is universally negative.
